Oslo, Norway/Oslofjord for Rotterdam
Day sixteen promised to be an adventure in Oslo. First, we will be meeting Pegi and Eric's friend Johan. He has offered to show us around during our short stay in
port and he immediately offered us day passes for the tram. Then
he drove us to a famous Holmenkollbakken ski jump. It was quite
foggy, but the view from the top was still daunting.
Johan then drove us to his home, where we left
his car and walked to the nearby tram stop. We took the tram to the Vigeland Gardens in Frogner Park, filled with Gustav Vigeland sculptures.
As we were touring the gardens, it began to rain. We had to walk a long distance to get to a tram stop and I had no raincoat or umbrella and was soaked. We took a tram into the downtown area and the rain stopped. We began walking but realized that it was late and we had not eaten lunch. So, Johan suggested a restaurant nearby called Lofoten, which is known for its fish. After lunch, we walked along the dock and saw a sauna that looked like a
boat and a ferry, or so it
was explained to me.
We approached the Munch Museum and the Oslo Opera House, just beyond
the new Oslo Library on the left. We visited the Opera House for a while,
but needed to return to Zuiderdam for
departure. We walked back
to the dock but realized we
did not have enough time
to walk. So we took a cab
the rest of the way.
Dinner in the Dining Room.
Day seventeen was spent cruising out through Oslofjord into the North Sea on the way to Rotterdam.
