Cobh (Cork), Ireland
We docked at Cobh, near Cork, on day twenty. We will take an excursion from Cobh called Cork’s Countryside & Kinsale, which is a long
bus ride to Kinsale. We stopped along the way at
Charles Fort, overlooking Kinsale in the distance.
Kinsale is a lovely, but crowded, small town on a
harbor. We found the post office and mailed some
postcards. Next door was a little café offering fresh
croissants and good coffee, which helped refresh
our efforts to explore. It was also an opportunity to
obtain supplies for our cruise. We ambled our
way around the main street back toward the
harbor, where we would meet the bus to take
us back to Cobh.
When we arrived at the terminal, we noticed
a restaurant called The Quays, nearby where
Zuiderdam was
docked. We had a
delightful lunch of
fish and chips with
mushy peas while
overlooking our ship/home and Cobh harbor.
Pegi and Eric had been to an excursion to Kiss the Blarney Stone, but had an awful experience. They were not able to go into Blarney Castle because it was so crowded and didn't get to do most of the things that had been promised. They were very upset.
