Qaqortoq, Greenland/at sea for Canada
As we approached
Qaqortoq on day
twenty-nine, the
weather was clear,
promising a good
opportunity for us
enjoy this visit to
this small, but busy
town with it's mountainous views and rock carvings. So, Sue, Pegi
and I took the tender into town. After landing at the dock, we
walked up the hill to the visitor center/gift shop where we bought
tickets to the Qaqortoq Museum, then went to visit. Afterwards,
we walked further into town past Mindebrønden, the fountain in
the middle. Next, we walked to the Kûnguak Café near the river,
to have lunch (see
picture of door in
restroom).
After lunch, we
started to search
for the carvings that were done as
an open air stone sculpture gallery
called Stone and Man. We were able
to get pictures of some of them, but
some others were too difficult to find
or access. See pictures below.
Day twenty-eight was spent at sea and was uneventful, except for Breton Thunder, the musical act we saw that night. Fantastic!
